How Does CampMeds Work?

1

Summer Camps Partner with CampMeds

Camps collaborate with CampMeds to strengthen their medication management process. By partnering with CampMeds, camps gain access to efficient medication packaging and delivery services, ensuring a smooth experience for both staff and campers.

2

Register Campers for CampMeds

Registering campers is simple through the CampMeds parent portal, where you can easily enter the camper’s medication details and demographic information. Once entered, reach out to the camper’s prescriber to submit the necessary prescriptions to our pharmacy partner. Ensure prescriptions are submitted at least 30 days prior to the start of camp. If anything changes with their medication after registering, just let us know!

3

Medications are Expertly Packaged

CampMeds sorts, labels, and pre-packages medications by dose, day, and time. This careful preparation ensures safe medication administration for campers, even during off-site trips and excursions.

4

Packages Arrive at Camp

All pre-packaged medications, along with Medical Administration Records (MARs), are delivered directly to your camp. This allows your camp’s Health Center to focus on providing care rather than managing medication logistics.

All prescription and non-prescription medications, such as vitamins (taken daily and “as needed”)
Exceptions: Insulin, Growth Hormone injections, any injectable, Birth Control, Accutane, Avi-Qs.
Most camps stock drugs such as Tylenol, Advil, Benadryl, etc. Check with your camp to confirm the OTC meds they stock. If your camper takes herbal/specialty vitamins, please contact CampMeds to determine if they can be packaged.

It is your responsibility to check that the prescription is written correctly. If the med is to be taken daily, the prescription should specify daily, with the time of day (breakfast, lunch, bedtime, etc) If a prescription is written as “once a day” with no specific time, the medication will be packaged at breakfast. If the med is taken only “as needed” (PRN), the prescription must be written to specify only “as needed.”

Our pharmacy partner is contracted with most insurance plans. You will be responsible for co-pays, deductibles, and prescriptions not covered if the pharmacy is not a provider for your plan. If you have an insurance change, please send the updated insurance card to CampMeds as soon as possible. Please contact the pharmacy partner directly for questions related to medication costs. The partner pharmacy reserves the right to charge your credit card for the medication cost, co-pays, or deductibles. All credit card charges from the pharmacy will appear separately when your camper starts camp.
